Identifies whether the Medi-Cal beneficiary's health care services are provided through Fee-for-Service (FFS) or a Managed Care health plan during the month of enrollment.

Managed Care (MC)

Medi-Cal managed care health plans administer the delivery of a contracted set of health care services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries, and are responsible for contracting with networks of providers to deliver those services. The health plans are paid a set monthly fee for every enrolled Medi-Cal beneficiary in their plan, and they accept the risk for any costs that exceed that amount. The three primary models are:

County Organized Health System (COHS)

Local Initiative (LI)

Commercial Plan (CP)

The total number of individuals certified eligible for the month of eligibility. Certified eligibles are those beneficiaries who are deemed qualified for Medi-Cal by a valid eligibility determination, and who have enrolled into the program. This classification excludes beneficiaries who have not met a monthly share-of-cost obligation.
